I was recently asked the question: "What's Your Favorite Ragdoll Cat Book, Ragdoll Mommy?" Well, I'll answer that in this post, but I also thought it'd be fun to include a small review on each book from my own personal view, I own a total of 5 Ragdoll cat books (pictured below with my Blue Mitted Ragdoll, Anya). I am currently in the process of reading two of them (the two biggest books pictured below), but I have already read the three smaller ones. Lets began!

My Own Personal Review of the Book: How to Understand and Take Care of Your Ragdoll Kitten & Cat
Ragdoll Mommy says:
" I thought it was okay, not bad, but not good either. This book would make a great child's book, but this is not an adult book or even a YA book. I rarely read children's books, I read adult or YA. The description for this book on Amazon listed it as a guide for adults. Wrong. This book had the most spelling errors I've ever seen in a book, the author does not know the difference between "your" and "you're", and he even wrote a few times the same word after another; e.g never never or cat cat, etc. He knows next to nothing on Ragdolls, this book contains maybe 1-2% on Ragdoll cats and that's in the first chapter of the book (by the way, each chapter is 1-3 pages long!), the other half of the book talks about basic cat\kitten care, not much more than you'll find yourself on the internet for free. If you're a newbie to cat owning or if you're 10 years old and planning on buying a $500+ dollar cat, then this maybe the book for you, but if you had Ragdolls before or even regular house cats, then please look else where. By the way, this book contains no photos, except on the front and back of the book. Too cheap. "

My Own Personal Review of the Book: Ragdoll Cats

" Good, but not great, definitely better than said book above, but a little boring, but I guess almost 16 years ago this book was probably better than it is now for information, because the internet has only been popular for 10 - 14 years, and even back then it cannot even compare with what most people are using now, lol. Unlike said book above, this book actually has pictures, and for being almost 16 years old, they're not bad! This book contains good information on showing for people who are interested in showing their Ragdoll; like me, so this chapter was pretty helpful. Ragdoll Cats was my very first Ragdoll book, and I purchased it a few months on Amazon after I received Nico and Anya, I had Ragdolls before them, but I needed a good decent guide and this was right up my ally. Good book and I would recommend it to newbie Ragdoll owners or anyone who wants to know more about this amazing breed, called Ragdoll cats. Unlike said book above, this book is actually an adult\YA book, and wasn't a waste of my time".

My Own Personal Review of the Book: The Friendly Floppy Ragdoll Cat

" Over priced, but an okay book, written by a non-Ragdoll owner and non- breeder, author has two Ragdoll crosses\pointed mixed breed cats, author knows little on Ragdolls, and please, if you have not owned at least one purebred Ragdoll (or any animal) then do not write a book about them, you're only going to embarrass yourself by people who know what they're actually doing; like me. I've had years of experience with Ragdolls, and even more with cats, and tons of other animals too, I grew up with animals and currently have 3 cats, 1 of whom is a purebred SBT TICA registered Ragdoll. The Friendly Floppy Ragdoll Cat book contains information on regular cat care, and said author mentions the variants, this is the first Ragdoll book I have ever read that contains information on the variants. Please keep in mind that real, true, registered, purebred, SBT, Ragdolls are always a BLUE eyed and POINTED breed. Minks, sepias, solids, fawns, cinnamons, tabbies, classic tabbies, smokes are NOT Ragdoll cats!! Ragdoll cats come in 6 colors: seal, blue, lilac\frost (same thing), cream, chocolate, and flame\red (same thing), and in 6 patterns: mitted, bicolor, colorpoint, mid high white, van, and high mitted, there is also 3 overlaying patterns: lynx, tortie, and torbie (tortie x lynx). Good information on food and health care, but little information on Ragdoll cats, the book is mostly about the author's cats (who are not even Ragdolls) and other people's Ragdolls, like breeders' cats. Boring and over priced. Okay information on toys, food, health care, etc. Author also cannot tell one color from another, please do your research before buying and writing a book for millions to read and see. Just a thought."

My Own Personal Review of the Book: The Definitive Guide to Ragdolls
" I love my copy of The Definitive Guide to Ragdolls, I do not have any negative reviews about this book other than, Robin spelling the word "diarrhea" as "diarrhoa" or something along the lines of that. Laura misuses "their" and "they're" in the wrong sentences. But other than that, the book is great, and I'd highly recommend it to all Ragdoll breeders and just anyone who has a Ragdoll or just wants to know more about this amazing breed. Ragdolls are awesome, so far this is the number one book I'd recommend, to Ragdoll lovers. It is filled with information about history, showing, breeding, health care, etc. Great book. My all time favorite. It has great photos for being 20 years old, filled with beautiful old style looking Ragdolls. Just a great book, it is very rare and hard to find though."

My Own Personal Review of the Book: A Ragdoll Kitten Care Guide
" Okay, let me start by saying this author is my fellow blog follower, she has two Ragdoll cats; Charlie (pictured on her book cover front), he is a Seal Mitted with an hourglass blaze, and Trigg a Blue Lynx Mitted male. Charlie's sire is a Blue Mitted with a star blaze, his dam is a Seal Mitted with a star blaze. Trigg's sire is a Seal Lynx Mitted, and his dam is a Seal Colorpoint. I like the chapter in this book on food and litter boxes, but I don't like how she harasses people who use non-clumping cat litter and hooded litter boxes, for crying out loud it's a cat. Clumping cat litter is bad for your lungs and your cat's and can cause lung cancer by all of the dust from the chemicals and whatnot to make it clump on contact, plus it is bad on the environment. Who's got the upper hand now? She also states that the variants are Ragdolls, which is a lie. The photos are not the best quality, there are a few cats with red eyes from the camera flash, or just all around unprofessional. There is little information on Ragdolls, and she doesn't mention declawing and how its very bad for the cats, she allows these cats outside, which Ragdoll cats cannot defend themselves very well, and they are the #1 breed in the USA to be stolen. Also some of this book is just laughable; (Page 42) "I hear a bathroom, a basement or a den are great places for a litter box" ; Really?! Also you do not need 6 litter boxes for 2 cats, you need 1-2; I have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes. On the flip side, some of the information is good, but its mostly just for newbie cat owners. "
